Game Box Video Games and Comics

Game Box Video Games and Comics is a video game, comics and tabletop shop at 49 Topsham Fair Mall Rd in Topsham, Maine, serving Topsham, Brunswick and the surrounding Midcoast area. It sits at the meeting point of three hobbies: new and used video games from every era, a shelf of tabletop games that includes Magic: The Gathering, and a repair counter for consoles, phones and tablets. It suits Commander players and war gamers who want a free place to play on weeknights, and anyone who needs a cracked screen or a dead console looked at.

What's on the shelves

The video game stock runs from current systems to retro classics, new and used. The tabletop side covers cards, board games, war games, role playing games and miniatures. Magic: The Gathering is the card game the store carries, and a separate selection of Magic singles is part of the stock.

Specific tabletop titles can be special ordered by calling the shop or stopping in. Stopping by the counter is the way to find out what is on hand, and the shop gets in rare video game stock from time to time.

Repairs

Repair work is a large part of the business. The shop fixes PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles, iPhones, iPads and other tablets, and most Samsung, LG, Motorola and HTC smartphones. Typical jobs include disc drive and hardware problems, screen replacements and charging port repairs. The store has repaired more than 5,000 cell phones and tablets since 2010. Repair prices change, so it is worth contacting the shop for a current quote before bringing a device in.

Game nights and the play space

Customers can use the in-store game space free of charge, and two nights of the week have a focus. Outside those nights, hobbyists use the space for painting miniatures, building models and other projects, and players can bring their own games or join a table already running.

Players of all experience levels are welcome, and the regulars swap rules answers, painting tips and pickup games.

Hours and getting there

The shop is at 49 Topsham Fair Mall Rd, Topsham, ME 04086.
