About
Dean's Cards is a vintage sports card dealer based in Cincinnati, Ohio, built around baseball cards from 1887 to the present, with football, basketball, hockey, soccer, boxing and non-sports cards alongside. It is not a walk-in shop. The Fair Ln location is office space and inventory storage, and all sales happen online, so the store suits collectors who want deep vintage inventory shipped to them and people with older collections to sell, not anyone planning to browse a case.
The online stock runs past a million cards, and baseball is the specialty. The store also carries thousands of issues of Sports Illustrated, Sport Magazine, Baseball and Football Digest, plus vintage team yearbooks and media guides.
Complete sets are a particular strength. More than 25,000 vintage sets are available, including complete sets, near-complete and starter sets, and team sets, in several conditions. An in-house set-building tool refills each set overnight, so the same set often turns up in more than one grade.
Raw vintage cards are graded by an automated system, and the grading breakdown appears beside each card so a buyer can see why it received its grade. High-resolution scans accompany individual cards and every card in a set. The store's approach is to grade conservatively rather than generously.
Pricing is the same for every customer. Volume discounts apply automatically, starting at 5% when an order reaches $50 and rising to 20% at $1,000, and the store gives no additional discounts to anyone. Orders are mailed within one business day.
Purchases carry a money-back guarantee: contact the store within 10 business days of receiving an order for a refund or replacement. Vintage sets are the exception, since pulling and restocking several hundred cards is labor-intensive, and a returned set carries a 20% restocking fee.
The store buys vintage collections, mostly through a seller form that asks how many cards there are, what years they come from and what is in the collection. Sellers receive an offer within 2 to 3 business days. An accepted offer is paid by bank check mailed to the seller. A declined offer means the cards are returned with the return postage covered by the store. Inquiries are answered within one business day.
The buying rules are specific. With some exceptions, the store is not buying sports cards printed after 1979, and it generally does not purchase collections of fewer than a hundred cards unless the items are highly desirable.

Because the store sells entirely online, it runs no weekly events or organized-play programs.
Dean's Cards began in 2003, when the owner left corporate work and started one of the first strictly online sports card shops from his basement in Cincinnati. He launched with his childhood collection and his father's doubles, and the first sale came that May. The business has since grown to a team of 15 working from an 8,500 square foot office. The owner has written articles for several publications, including Sports Collectors Digest, and two books on vintage baseball cards.
Anyone in the area who wants to browse in person has other options nearby. Two Games Workshop locations in Cincinnati sit about 1.2 and 1.4 miles away, and Go Fast Hobby Shop is about 1.6 miles away. In Norwood, haines house of cards is about 2.5 miles away and Paper Street Trading Company about 2.9 miles. The PokePop card show, about 35 miles from the store, next starts on November 14, 2026.
