Boom Tube Comics

Boom Tube Comics is a comic book shop at 1475 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, Suite 1, in Southington, Connecticut. It sells new comics, back issues, graphic novels and collectibles, and it carries Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering cards alongside the comics. The store is family friendly and aimed at readers of all ages, from first-time comic buyers to people with shelves of long boxes at home.

What's on the shelves

Comics are the core of the stock. The store carries the week's new issues, trade paperbacks and graphic novels, plus thousands of back issues, from Ant Man to Zatanna. Marvel and DC titles sit next to a run of indie books. The rotating wall books come in a clear bag and a clear board so a book can be inspected before purchase, and magnet-sealed cases are available with a purchase. Anything not in stock can be special ordered.

On the card side, the store sells Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering product. Starter packs and booster packs are the entry points for both games.

Beyond cards and comics, the shop stocks:

• Limited edition figures of heroes and villains
• HeroClix miniatures
• Dungeons & Dragons miniatures, official paints and brushes, and a few Wizards of the Coast books, with other titles available to order in
• Comic book storage, including stackable drawerboxes that go six boxes high with dividers, traditional long boxes and short boxes, and printed art boxes with licensed artwork

Gift certificates are available, which suits the figures and collectibles side of the shop.

The store hosts community events, from all-day celebrations of a major title to game and fun nights for fans. The owners welcome ideas for new events.

The shop sits in central Connecticut, less than a mile from I-84, I-691 and Route 10, and serves Southington, Plantsville and Bristol.

History

Boom Tube Comics is a new store run by people with more than 30 years of experience in comics and collectibles. The name comes from DC Comics lore, where a boom tube is a teleportation point between places.
