At Ease Games

At Ease Games is a tabletop game store at 8400 Miramar Rd #250 in San Diego, built around board games, miniatures and a large play area, with trading cards and Pokémon on the shelves alongside them. It suits miniature wargamers, board game players and tabletop roleplayers who want room to spread out, and Pokémon players looking for a place to run tournaments.

What's on the shelves

Board games are the core of the stock, running from popular favorites to obscure titles. Miniatures run from Warhammer to Flames of War, and the store also carries paints and hobby supplies, trading cards, Pokémon product, and Woobles crochet kits. The range reflects the store's original plan, which was to keep board games, miniature games, roleplaying games, card games and hobby supplies in one place.

Play space and events

The store has a cozy play area with frequent events. Players can walk in and sit down or reserve a table in advance to secure a seat. Regularly scheduled tournaments run for Warhammer and Pokémon, among other games, and a league schedule runs as well. Reserving a table is done by calling the store.

RPG rooms

Four private rooms are available for roleplaying groups, each rented for a six-hour block. The rate is $30 for members and $60 without a membership. Reservations are made by calling the store.

Hours and getting there

The store sits in suite 250 at 8400 Miramar Rd, San Diego, CA 92126. It keeps long hours, closing at 11 PM every night of the week.

History

At Ease Games opened in 2011 in a modest shop in the Poway area, founded by a longtime gamer to give San Diego players a full range of gaming stock and space. Within three years the 2,200-square-foot shop had been outgrown by both its inventory and its community. In early 2014 the store moved to a larger location off Miramar Road, expanding both inventory and play space. In late 2024 it moved again, to a roomier spot also off Miramar Road, with more shelving and a much bigger gaming area.
