About
Apba Games is a sports simulation game company based at 816 Curie Dr in Alpharetta, Georgia, and it works more as a hobby publisher than a card shop in the usual sense. The cards here are season card sets built to be played with dice, not packs to rip. It suits baseball and football gamers who want to run a full season at the kitchen table, along with anyone who has played APBA for decades and needs the new year's set.
The core product is a line of basic board games for pro baseball, football, hockey and soccer. The Pro Baseball Basic Game is $36.00 and comes with a manual, dice, a baseball field and chart, and four 2025 teams: the Dodgers, Toronto, Milwaukee and Seattle. The Pro Football Basic Game is $44.00 and includes the 2025 Seattle, New England, Indiana and Miami (FL) teams, with a spiral-bound rule book that gathers the rules, rosters and play boards.
Season card sets are the main draw for returning players. For baseball, the 2025 Master Baseball Season Cards are $86.00 and work with both the basic and master games. The 2025 Baseball Season XC Cards are $70.00 and add 571 players, enough to run an as-played replay of the full MLB season. A free 2025 lineup sheet download lists all 900 players in the base card set by team, with frequently used lineups.
Recent additions span several sports:
There is also a Baseball for Windows program, currently at version 6.2, and a browser-based version of APBA Baseball that is free to play with the most recent World Series finalists. Basketball, saddle racing and bowling are covered in the company's archives.
Orders for the 2026 Season Baseball Card Set open on Friday, January 8, 2027, with shipping starting that day. The 2026 season release on APBA GO is tentatively planned for the first week of December. The Baseball for Windows 2026 season file arrives in mid-January 2027 as a download only, since CDs are no longer offered for Baseball for Windows products.
The office keeps weekday business hours and is closed on weekends. Because it is a working office rather than a walk-in shop, visitors are asked to send an email the day before stopping by.

The last business day of 2026 is Wednesday, December 16, and orders placed by the close of business that day ship on Thursday, December 17.
Each summer the company hosts a players' convention in Alpharetta at the Hilton Garden Inn. The 2026 edition ran Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 2, with a baseball tournament. Convention packages were sold through the store and included a golf shirt, the Friday dinner and the Saturday lunch, with a lower-priced package for first-time attendees. The hotel block carried a rate of $115.00 plus taxes and fees, with breakfast included.
The game traces to the 1930s and a group of high-school friends in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who played a baseball simulation created by one of them, Dick Seitz. The name comes from the American Professional Baseball Association, the league they invented. Seitz printed his own player cards and typed his own charts, and he took the game with him to Fort Eustis, Virginia during the 1940s. After the 1950 Philadelphia Phillies revived his enthusiasm, he released the game publicly in 1951 at $10, with 20 player cards for each of the 16 major league teams. About 150 copies sold that first year, and he left his day job in 1957 to run APBA full time.
The company has made sports simulation products since 1951, including board, video and online games. A small team of sports fans now supports a community of players around the world.
