Alex's MVP Comics & Cards

Alex's MVP Comics & Cards is a comic and card shop on York Avenue in New York, open since 1988. It sells sports cards, Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon packs, and both new and vintage comics, and it buys cards and comics from customers. It suits collectors who want a long-running neighborhood shop for comics and cards under one roof, and anyone with a collection to sell.

What's on the shelves

The core of the store is comics and cards. New comics and vintage comics each have their own stock, and the card side covers sports cards along with packs for Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon. The store also sells online, which gives items that don't fit the shelves another way to reach buyers.

Buying and special requests

The store buys cards and comics from customers, so it is a stop for anyone clearing out a collection as well as for shoppers. Selling and general questions go through the store by phone or email, as do order status checks and requests for a specific item.

Hours and getting there

The shop is open six days a week and closed Sundays. Weekday hours run a little shorter than a typical retail day, so plan around the early close.

The shop sits on York Avenue between 83rd and 84th Streets, after a move to the opposite side of the avenue, right across the street from its former location.

History

The store has served comic and card customers since 1988. Its most recent change was the short move across York Avenue, which kept it on the same stretch of the street.
