SM8b: GX Ultra Shiny is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion that released on November 2, 2018, during the Sun & Moon era under the set code SM8b. The card list runs to 250 printings, and the set is built around shiny treatments of Pokémon-GX alongside regular cards. Lycanroc GX appears four times, and Alolan Vulpix, Altaria, Buzzwole and Buzzwole GX each show up twice, so several of its Pokémon come in more than one version. Its headline cards are all GX Pokémon, led by Espeon GX, Zygarde GX and Lucario GX.
SM8b: GX Ultra Shiny is a chase-heavy set: every rarity tier it prints counts as chase, from Prism Rare, Ultra Rare and Super Rare up through Double Rare, Shiny Rare and Shiny Secret Rare, which makes 125 chase-tier cards in total. The shiny secret cards hold the top of the most valuable cards list, with Espeon GX first, then Zygarde GX, Lucario GX and Leafeon GX, all at Shiny Secret Rare. Value is spread thinly for a set like this, since the top five cards account for only 21 percent of the set's total card value.
As of October 2026, SM8b: GX Ultra Shiny holds the 3rd highest total card value of the 36 comparable Sun & Moon sets and ranks 15th across the whole game, about 4.9 times the era median. Its single most valuable card ranks 17th in the era, and it places 8th for trading activity. It followed SM8a: Dark Order, which holds less total value, and came before SM9: Tag Bolt, which holds similar value. English collectors will find its cards in Hidden Fates Shiny Vault, which arrived 9 months later, on August 23, 2019, and shares 89 cards with it.

The full run is 250 printings, and 220 of them are priced, so most of a complete SM8b: GX Ultra Shiny is easy to value. Because the top five cards hold just 21 percent of total card value, the cost of finishing the set is spread across many shiny cards rather than a few pulls. The sealed line includes a booster box and booster packs, the two ways the set was released.
