Mysterious Mountains is a Japanese Pokémon TCG expansion from the e-Card era, released on October 4, 2002. The card list totals 91 printings, built on a base of 38 commons and 18 uncommons, with 16 holo rares, 16 rares and just three Super Rare Holo cards at the top. It sits in the e-Card run between Split Earth and ADV Expansion Pack. Several Pokémon appear in more than one version here: Magneton has four printings, Piloswine three, and Arcanine, Articuno and Beedrill two each, which gives the card list more variety than its size suggests.

Mysterious Mountains is part of the e-Card era.
The pull ladder in Mysterious Mountains runs from commons and uncommons up through rares and holo rares to only three chase-tier Super Rare Holo cards, so the top end is thin. The most valuable cards, though, are holo rares: Nidoqueen leads, with Magneton, Xatu and a second Magneton printing behind it. Piloswine and Machamp follow, and even common Lapras and Ursaring land in the value top eight. The top five cards hold 42 percent of the set's total card value, a moderate concentration with real worth spread beyond the headline pulls.
As of October 2026, Mysterious Mountains holds the 5th highest total card value of the 7 comparable e-Card sets, about 0.7 times the era median, and its top card ranks 6th among the era's most valuable single cards. Trading activity is stronger, at 3rd in the era, and across the whole Japanese game it ranks 13th by total value. It followed Split Earth, which holds more total value, and came before ADV Expansion Pack, which holds less. Its cards reached English players in Skyridge, 7 months later, with 54 cards shared between the two.

Completing Mysterious Mountains means tracking 91 printings, 57 of which are currently priced. Because the top five cards carry 42 percent of the set's value, the cost of a full run depends on a handful of holo rares, led by Nidoqueen and the Magneton printings, while the commons and uncommons make up a smaller part of the picture. Magneton and Piloswine each appear in several versions, so duplicates are easy to confuse when working through the card list, and checking each printing against the list helps keep a collection accurate.
