# Pikachu EX #XY84 — XY Black Star Promos

## Summary

Pikachu EX is a Black Star promo, which means it came through events and special distribution rather than booster packs, and the franchise mascot always adds demand on top of that. Hitoshi Ariga is a respected veteran Pokémon illustrator, so collectors tend to seek him out regardless of the Pokémon. At a $93 modelled guide, with 43 copies traded in 30 days, this printing is almost entirely collector premium, since the same card plays for $1.86 out of Prismatic Evolutions; the slab is the real edge, with PSA 10s at $9,300 and a 4% observed gem rate putting about $340 of expected profit per submission.
