# Switch (Japanese) #036 — XY Beginning Set

## Summary

Switch is the Trainer that does one thing in every deck: swap your Active Pokémon for a Benched one, a staple since the earliest sets and an item players take for granted until a retreat cost strands them. This Japanese XY Beginning Set copy, released in November 2013, appeared the same day as its English twin in the Kalos Starter Set. The art is a glowing Poké Ball hovering over a platform in purple light, with an arrow disc nearby.
