# Mewtwo (Japanese) #086 — Base Expansion Pack

## Summary

Mewtwo has been the franchise's definitive psychic powerhouse since the first games, a lab-made creation that fans still rank among the most formidable Pokémon ever designed. The Japanese Mewtwo from Base Expansion Pack arrived in December 2001, nine months ahead of the English Expedition Base Set. Its pale, outstretched figure hovers against a stormy purple sky cut by forked lightning, and the Rare slot keeps it a fair, mid-tier pull.
